Happy Easter!

Posted on 12:44 PM

We had a great Easter. Jace and I went out to Grandpa and Gigi's house to play, open his easter basket, color eggs and hang out. Jace loved the soccer ball that came in his basket and pretty much played with it all day! I finally found a pair of shoes that he will wear all day and they are soooo cute! After we had lunch I let Jace have his first Peep. He wasn't exactly sure what to do with it at first, but once he tasted it he loved it! Then we also enjoyed a small piece of cake that Gigi won for us from the radio station. There is nothing like loading him up on sugar! :o)
We played pretty much all day and attempted to watch "Bee Movie". Of course that means I caught a few pieces and chased Jace around the house. He got pretty laid back about the time that the Arkansas game came on, so we did get to watch that. It was definitely disappointing! Jace is trying to walk some and it is so funny. He usually takes a few steps and then sits down and claps. He is so smart!!

Jace is ONE

Jace's birthday party was wonderful! We had it a week early so that it would be during Spring Break and it was a weekend that Daddy was home. Nana Dear and Pawpaw, Aunt Natalie, Uncle Tanner and cousins Maddie Grace and Mason all came from out of town. We had a blast! Jace wore a dinosaur outfit at the beginning (it went with his invitations) and it was so cute! I know it was a little over the top, but everyone loved it. We had a beautiful cake and great punch! Jace was so funny with his cake. He did not even hesitate to begin digging in! He loved getting it all over his hands and thought that it was really funny to slap the cake. It was great, really! Luckily I put a tablecloth under his chair to catch the falling and flying cake. We had great friends, family and food... What more could you ask for? Jace got everything that he could have possibly needed and more!! He got this great little bounce and spin zebra, and a car wagon that we already love to take walks in! He also got a ton of other great little toys and all the summer clothes you can imagine. We had such a good time, it couldn't have been more perfect. Nana Dear and Pawpaw got to stay until mid-week because Nana Dear was on Spring Break. We went to the Promenade and walked around for two days. It was very fun. Today, Grandma called in Jace's birthday to a radio station for a drawing to win a Rick's birthday cake and he won!! He sure is starting out lucky!

Just playin'

Well, Jace and I pretty much just hung out at home yesterday. We had a lot of time to hang out, especially since he refused to take a nap! Those darn teeth!! He had so much fun getting all of the toys out of the toy box. You can see he had to reach waaayy down to the bottom. He was a little upset, but I really couldn't resist! I think that I have mentioned before that Jace has an obsession with rubber ducks... I really think he probably has 10 or so. All different colors and sizes. Mimi even brought him some Peeps that are like rubber ducks that light up in the bathtub! (Very cool, by the way) Anyway he has this one little duck that he just loves to carry around in his mouth and suck on. It is very funny and totally cute!

Pudding Time

Jace has been having a really hard time at night lately. I think that he is just teething, but man! it is starting to get to me. I feel like he is a newborn again. For the past 3 nights he has woken up between 1:30 and 2am and will not go back to sleep unless I put him in bed with me. Last night I was watching him sleep and I can't tell you how much he literally looked like an angel. I don't really mind, but I don't sleep very well because I am worried about him all night! As one of my highschool teachers always said, " This too shall pass".
So the pictures below are some of my favorite pudding pictures! I have been buying sugar free chocolate pudding occasionally and giving it to him as a treat after dinner. He absolutely loves it. He really likes to stick his hands in the bowl when I am not paying attention and play in it. It is just so cute! He also loves getting a mouthful and spitting it. It is pretty funny, but I really try to hold back so he doesn't think that it is acceptable :o)
We are having his birthday party this coming weekend, and I am just so excited! Josh's family is coming and I just love hanging out with them. They are all really fun people. Tanner and Val, Josh's brother and sister-in-law have twins, Maddie Grace and Mason who are 4 and a half. They are really fun and love Jace. They both insist that his name is "Baby Jace" and not Jace Mezel. It can be very entertaining the conversations that we sometimes have. I think I say this in every post, but I really can not believe that he is a year old already!
Today we went to my dad's house to hang out. Jace has learned that the dogs love to eat his food and he likes feeding them his food more than eating it himself. It is pretty cute watching him interact with the dogs. Radar (the yorkie) was playing with him today. They chased each other and fought over a frisbee. Jace also throws balls and toys (not very far) for the dogs but they do not like bringing the toys back. All in all it was a great day!

Gracie's 1st Birthday!

Posted on 9:03 PM
Jace's friend Gracie turned 1 on February 21st. They are exactly 1 month and 1 day apart. Grace's mom, Taylor, and I went to school together and have been friends since 9th grade. Grace was so sweet to Jace and she kept trying to give him hugs and he was pushing her away. Maybe he thinks that she has cooties? Jace refused to nap that day, so he was pretty tired while we were there. There were several older kids so they kept him pretty entertained the whole time. He is so intrigued by older children. It is very cute watching him watch them. While Grace was opening her gifts, Jace was taking over her old toys. He carried this orange ball around the whole time. I was kind of scared that he was going to fight me about taking it home. We had a lot of fun, especially watching Grace eat her first bite of cake. It was very funny.
We try to get together with Taylor and Grace often. We both have Thursdays off, so we get together for play-dates. I never knew that play-dates could be so much fun!!

First Haircut

Posted on 7:20 PM

I have to say that this is one of my favorite memories so far. We got Jace's hair cut last Thursday. It was his first visit to the salon and he was so good! The stylist gave him a comb to play with and he just looked around the whole time. He kept looking at the foil in her hair with a confused look on his face. I kept thinking that his hair was going to start curling since Josh and I both have curls, but it started getting in his eyes and since he is almost a year old I decided that it was time. Our appointment was at 2:30 which was pretty much the perfect time after his nap so he was really happy. I really expected screaming and wiggling because of all the stories I have heard about kids' first haircuts. The stylist said that he was the best kid she has ever had. It made me really proud! We are having his 1st birthday party next weekend, which I am really excited about. I really can't believe it is already here. He has been so cute lately, he has a little push toy that is kind of like a bike and he gets behind it and takes off running with it. I have a feeling that walking may be coming soon. I know, I keep saying that, I am trying to prepare myself! Today Jace stayed with Miss Shawn for a little while and he was quite the ham I am told. He kept spitting his milk at her and laughing. He refused to take a nap, but stayed happy and played the whole time. He really likes her. Then when I went to pick him up from her house, she handed him to me and he reached for her! It was really funny. We are going to Marketplace tomorrow night with Krystal and we are both very excited about that! Jace loves the sweet potato fries.
